Overview

Whispering Hills is a comprehensive horror overhaul mod for Fallout 4 developed by Team Whisper. It integrates the eerie atmosphere of the Silent Hill series into the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout 4, including adding many new monsters throughout the Commonwealth and adding an entire new worldspace based on the real world near-ghost town of Centralia, Pennsylvania.

Key Features

  • Atmosphereic Changes: Adds perpetual dense fog and revamps the ambience and sound design, adding and replacing many sound effects and soundtracks with new ones from and inspired by Silent Hill.
  • New Monsters: Both the Commonwealth and Whispering Hills are now the host to many terrifying monsters from series such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil, including iconic enemies such as Pyramid Head and Robbie the Rabbit.
  • New Questline: Several new quests have been added that bring the Sole Survivor to the town of Whispering Hills to find their son, Shaun, replacing the vanilla main quest of Fallout 4.
  • New Worldspace: Introduces the city of Whispering Hills, a new contained worldspace directly inspired by and mapped around the Lidar scans of the town of Centralia, PA, which served as a real-world inspiration for the Silent Hill movie. The worldspace is full of quests and hand-crafted content designed to deliver a refined horror experience.
  • Otherworld Event: The game world will periodically transform into an intense horror scenario, with pitch-black darkness and hordes of monsters heralded by sirens.

Development

The mod has been actively in development since August of 2020 and is still being continually developed, adding new quests, locations, and improvements to features and atmosphere. The latest update is currently Episode 4, and the next planned update is Episode 4.5, currently in the works. Some notable contributors include: Mangaclub, the team lead; Thessaly Lerner, the voice of Lisa Garland in both the original Silent Hill and the mod; and several dedicated lore developers.
